Guys and Dolls revolutionized the musical comedy of Broadway in the 1950s with Frank Loeser's genius writing and composing. The show is a genius combination of a witty script with slapstick comedy and hilariously written lyrics paired with infectiously catchy beats. This musical fable of Broadway centers around two New York City gamblers who make a bet that the one Sky Masterson cannot win over a beautiful mission girl. As Sky is pursuing the beautiful Sarah, the other, Nathan Detroit has some problems of his own. His sassy and brassy girlfriend Adelaide is fed up with him constantly putting off their engagement. All of this creates a complicated yet hilarious plot with many intertwining plots and characters with confusion, arguments, fights, and flashy dance numbers. Guys and Dolls is a musical that truly has it all. Without this musical, the musical comedy as we know it would not be in existence. (Mordenn)
